Brief description of the product:

A vacuum interrupter generally has one fixed and one moving contact, a flexible bellows to allow movement of that contact, and arc shields enclosed in a hermetically-sealed glass, ceramic or metal housing with a high vacuum. The moving contact is connected by a flexible braid to the external circuit, and is moved by a mechanism when the device is required to open or close. Since air pressure tends to close the contacts, the operating mechanism must hold the contacts open against the closing force of air pressure on the bellows.
The fixed and moving contacts of the breaker are placed inside the arc shield. The pressure in a vacuum interrupter at the time of sealing off is kept at about 10-6 torr. The moving contacts of the circuit breaker are move through a distance of 5 to 10 mm depending upon the operating voltage.
The metallic bellows made of stainless steel is used to move the moving contacts. The design of the metallic bellows is very important because the life of the vacuum circuit breaker depends on the ability of the component to perform repeated operations satisfactorily.

Pay attention

Strictly control the contact travel.
The stroke of vacuum circuit breaker is relatively short. Generally, the contact stroke of vacuum circuit breaker with rated voltage of 10 ~ 15kV is only 8 ~ 12mm, and the contact overtravel is only 2 ~ 3mm. If the contact stroke increases too much, excessive stress will be generated on the bellows after the circuit breaker is closed, causing damage to the bellows and destroying the vacuum in the sealed shell of the circuit breaker. Do not mistakenly think that a large opening distance is beneficial to arc extinguishing, and arbitrarily increase the contact travel of the vacuum circuit breaker.
